LA tee times can also be had during the day, so lucky retired individuals or those vacationing can beat the crowds. Evening tee times are easily accommodated due to well-lit driving ranges and lighting systems course-wide on several outstanding LA golf courses. Lake Forest Golf and Practice Center is one such facility. With a lit course, you can savor a night game with friends, while during the daylight hours you can appreciate the nearby orange groves, mature trees and lakes that dot this enjoyable course.

For those of you who are exceptional athletes, you might want to try a unique style of golf that is not for the faint of heart. Perhaps extreme golf will appeal to the adventurous golfing enthusiast.

Extreme golf got its start in California in the the late 1970s. The goal of this breakneck sport variant is to work your way around a golf course in the shortest time and also with the lowest number of strokes. Although participants in extreme golf are expected to follow the regulation dress code for regular golf with the exception of running shoes, they nonetheless have to run in between strokes. Players carry anywhere from one to six clubs, and the score is a combination of the minutes it takes plus the number of strokes needed to complete the course. No golf carts or caddies are allowed in extreme golf.

There are major organized tournaments for extreme golf. One tournament was called the U.X. Open, which was played on a ten-hole mountain course crafted on ski slopes. The game of extreme golf is played worldwide, and adherents of extreme golf claim that their golf game during extreme play is just as good as when they play with regular rules. Extreme golf can be played by an individual, a tandem team of two players or a Best Ball team of two to four players.

Extreme golf courses are also available. Many people favor them because they are environmentally sustainable. The rules of play might change a bit to accommodate the particular course being played. Players will get an ultimate thrill from traversing forests and unmown meadows, with greens that are temporarily set and moved regularly in order to allow the grasses to rejuvenate. This means that the course does not stay the same but actually changes, adding an additional challenge each time you play on that particular golf course.

If you are physically fit and the cardiovascularly well-endowed, you will likely want to consider a round or two of extreme golf the next time you visit a Los Angeles golf course.
