Torrey Pines

Torrey Pines are two words that stir the blood of golf enthusiasts and nature lovers across the country. The beautiful nature reserve at Torrey Pines is matched only by the assisted beauty of the Torrey Pines golf course. This amazing golf resort is actually made up of two courses - the north course and the south course.

Torry Pines is an area within San Diego, and the courses themselves are bounded by the Pacific Ocean on one side, and mountains to the north. The sea-side course is known as a golfer's paradise, and is prone to all sorts of weather from sunny days and sea breezes, to fog off of the ocean, to chilling winds and lashing rain straight off of the sea.

The golf resort itself boasts two courses as well as an on-course golf shop that is one of the largest of its kind in the United States. Golf instruction, advance reservations, driving ranges, and first class lodging and dining are available nearby, ready to make your trip into a heavenly stay.

If you are looking for a course with some history, then consider that Tiger Woods not only played here, but won his first start of the season for the fourth time in time in 11 seasons on TOUR. He became the first player in Buick Invitational history to win the tournament four times (1999, 2003, '05, '06), the fifth different tournament he has captured four times. He even made an 8-foot birdie on 72nd hole to get into a three-man playoff with Jose Maria Olazabal and Nathan Green. Green was eliminated after first hole, Olazabal on the second. He improved his playoff record to 9-1. He has nine top-10s, including six top-threes, in nine appearances at Torrey Pines. He also won in California for the 10th time in his career. Has at least one win in 11 consecutive seasons, the longest current streak on tour. Tiger also won at age 15, when he took on the best teens in the world at the Optimist Junior World Tournament.

If one extremely distinguished golfer is not enough (and there are plenty that have played at Torrey Pines), consider that they also boast such winners as John Daly, Phil Mickelson, Jose Olazabal, Scott Simpson, Mark O'Meara, and Davis Love III.

Torrey Pines also hosts the Junior World Golf Championship each July, attracting the best junior golfers in the world. This course has a place in the history of golf, and you can have a part of that history, one tee at a time.
